first sps frags

Posted by on August 22, 2006

fts after new sps fragsi put in an order for 3 frags from upscales.com yesterday, and since this hobby demands pay-out-your-ass overnight shipping on everything, they came in the mail this morning. so i took a nice long lunch to come home and unpack and acclimate them. and so far, so good. i got a birdnest, staghorn, and samoensis. and wow is the staghorn blue. (and i dont even have actinics) hopefully they all make it; these are my first acropora corals. in my old tank i just kept montipora and a boring brown anacropora frag lovingly referred to by my girlfriend as “the penis coral”.

i dont have any underwater putty to mount them yet, and since i hate messing with the super glue gel, i’ll just let them chill in my frag rack until then.

and i also found out that my sailfin is a complete camera hog. the damn thing acts more like a dog than a fish, which is cool and all, but not very useful when i’m trying to take pictures, as you can see:

i’m currently trying to figure out whats causing my microbubble issue; it is damn annoying. i’ve narrowed it down to my return pump, so i’m thinking about replacing the pump with an eheim 1250 and the tubing with the solid black kind. i’ll probably do that next month or something.

I agree with Daniel. Pics look good, tho.
Prostitutes are a hobby, cocaine is a hobby, salt fish aquariums are not :)

yeah these posts aren’t really meant for ya’ll to understand, heh. ya’ll gotta remember that the average person reading my reef posts are people from reef forums and stuff.

Did you get new lighting for the tank? Looks pretty pimp.

you should put a little blub at the bottom that sums the post without getting all “aquarium professor” in it.

ie, “i bought some thingers that go in the tank and look cool. here are pics of them looking cool. ps my sailfin is a camera whore. the end”

tyler: yeah i got new lights. i’ll be able to keep better corals with them.

trey: i guess cliff notes are in order. “i bought some colored sticks that hopefully won’t die. my fish is jealous”

i probably won’t be getting much if any new stuff for awhile. it sucks making real money but then immediately having to pay it to somebody :[

I have decided that not only you need to have a new post, but you also need a fucking octupus in your tank. That would be awesome, but not quite as cool as having a fucking kraken in there. Hell, summon the great elder god Cthulhu and make him pay rent.

i was gonna post again soon but i realized i have nothing to say, lol. things in my aquarium grow slow and all i do is go to work, heh

i’m gonna take some pictures of my appt after our woman gets back here and cleans up a bit. got a free new camera and i need to learn how to use it. (hey, 2 years no interest feels like free to me)

and cthulu said my appt was too small :(
