Lins and I pushed through to set 5 (6?) on expert last night before we had to turn in.
nice. terri was my groupie and watched the whole thing. for a bit we talked about how we felt it wasnt getting progressively harder like the first game did. little did we know that there were 8 sets! those last 2 sets are crazy too. i kept thinking “oh shit, this is only on hard! i’m fucked!”
i haven’t played any of the bonus songs yet, but i bought them all and they sound awesome. trogdor song, wtf??
What do you think of the encore song idea, instead of just doing 5 songs per set?
i dont really see how it is any different than before. still 5 songs per set. i think its gimmicky but it sets up for the game-winning song well.
although i’m not sure what happens when they dont want an encore, since the crowd loved me yesterday :] is getting asked for an encore the only way to unlock the 5th song?
i know i’m only a novice, but you can only play 4 songs on easy
so i never bought the first one and ive only played like a total of 10 times ever, but i played i played guitar hero 2 yesterday. of course the fraternity guys bought it yesterday morning and spent all day skipping class and unlocking everything.
im kind of disappointed that it is basically the same game except for new songs. the same background over and over gets pretty annoying. for the Trogdor song, why not have strongbad and the cheet in the background singing or something. that would have been clever.
but some of the new songs are awesome.
i’m am actually glad they didnt change the gameplay just for the sake of being different. the changes that i’ve noticed make the game better (namely hammer-on/pull-off sensitivity)
but i agree that visually its pretty much the same. i do like how the lighting is custom and synced up for each song. maybe they’ll take that idea to the models/animation for GH3 like you mention. i didnt think about putting the cheat in there, but when i played “sweet child of mine” for the first time i was like “oh shit, i hope the lead singer does the snake dance!”
but he didnt, and it was sad :[

it must have… did you know that gutiar hero is a lot harder when the guitar track doesn’t match up with the rest of the track? that’s what my PS2 does… loads of fun there.
