what is wakoopa? find out for yourself here.
the quick and dirty is that it is a social community based around sharing what software you use. i think the idea is pretty neat and i can only hope their recommendation algorithm is solid. :] i’ve written a widget to display your “top 10 list” on a wordpress-driven blog.
the widget can currently either display your list in image form or in a plain text format.

enjoy!

So you’re finally using Dvorak, eh?
haha, yeah. switched last year actually.
Hah! after all those years, you finally gave in to the temptation :) It’s pretty sweet isn’t it?
ps: If you use ‘google’ as a verb at Yahoo!, will they fire you?
heh, yeah dealing with your computer last year at quakecon reminded me about it. that first week at work sucked but i got used to it pretty quickly.
lol, i’ll have to watch myself on that one. i hope not, b/c being in SF with no job is not on my todo list.
so it looks like i’ll be adding some caching code to this in the future so that
1. doesn’t wait on the wakoopa server every page load
2. if wakoopa is down for maintenance (aka right now hence this post), the cached image can still show
look for v0.2 soon.
Keith,
Cool widget! Not sure if I am doing something wrong or because I just upgrade to WP 2.2, but I can’t get my username info to stay in the widget. I put it in, close, save and then check my homepage but it always says “Please enter your wakoopa username”
Thanks,
Derek
p.s. Good luck in SF
hm, i upgraded to 2.2 yesterday and just checked changing my username in the widget and it seems to work fine.
after you click save changes on the widget screen, what happens if you open back up the control for the widget? is the name field blank?
Weird…now that I try it again it wants to work. Maybe something hanging up in the upgrade? Anyways, thanks for the feedback.
