i’ve been holding out from buying a new console since i was perfectly content with my ps2. (and by content i mean i had a way to play guitar hero). even when i got a little antsy, i could go buy a game like GTA: san andreas, since i hadn’t played that yet either. but after i really couldn’t do any more with GH2, (like i’m gonna be able to beat jordan…) and then my PC died so my hopes of getting back into FPS gaming stalled, i decided to bite the bullet and buy a new console.
what i really wanted was a Wii, but since they are still impossible to find (and all i really wanted was wii sports which would get old after awhile) i decided on the 360. the ps3 wasn’t even on the list since it costs too much just isn’t worth it. now i am worried about getting the “red ring of death” but since i won’t have to pay to get it fixed, and since i’m just buying it now, the newer hardware is out which hopefully helps out a bit. i made sure to get the HDMI version also.
so now i have this new toy, and all the time in the world to play with it. there’s the obvious omg buy halo 3 but other than when we used to have those halo parties on pecan tree, i didn’t really play that game. and now that i’d have to rely on playing online to get some multiplayer action, it just wouldn’t be the same. :[ so i decided to buy skate. and holy crap, this game is awesome. part of it is just getting used to playing games in HD, since i've never done it before. but after i got used to the awesome graphics, i realized that this game is way better than the Tony Hawk games from PS1/PS2. and if you know me, you know how much i played those games.
one of the cool things about this game is how you can upload video to their site directly from the game. check out me getting hit by a car.

Yeah, the guys at work been talking me to getting a 360 for a while, mostly for Bioshock. Les and Travis also got theirs a while ago. Did you get the elite or normal? Also, I heard that the new Halo edition has the chips that make them quieter. Go go Wii60
i got the normal white one, but it’s the newer ‘zephyr’ hardware. so it’s got the quieter disc drive, extra heat sinks, and HDMI, but i still has the “hot” 90nm chips instead of the 65nm ones.
i’m trying to decide what game to get next. i heard bioshock is kinda short.
Orange box? H3? (you kinda have to get it to justify owning a 360).
gears of war is good also I heard.
yeah i’ve been toying around with the demos you can download using xbox live. got bioshock and crackdown, but haven’t tried them yet.
bioshock is fun, got it for PC but haven’t gotten all the way through it since i am supremely ADD when it comes to gaming nowadays. i’ve had my eye on the 360 for a couple of months now because of halo, but i dont even have an HDTV so i think i will just keep waiting.

So, I caved in after much drunken talks with travis and les. Did my research about the new hardware and it was a bitch to find the lot number that I wanted. Got Halo and Dead Rising, of course. No household is complete without zombie killing. I’ll post gamertag later.
Obligatory Quake 4 pimping. You can find it in the bargain bin nowadays and it comes with Quake 2 in full 1080p 4xAA 16xAF glory. Quake 2 on the 360 also has co-op split-screen. Enemy Territory should be out “soon”.

Sure, but I only got 1 controller. I had the same thoughts about a year ago when I wanted one, that I needed the HD tv first, but honestly, its not necessary, unless you play Dead Rising since the captions are so fucking small and blurry.
You should get it to play online. And Keif should get the game.

still alive, sorry for not posting recently. life has been out of whack.
Drew has 360 and I must say Dead Rising & Gears of War are my faves. Dead Rising 2 is in the works and from what I hear the devs are actually listening to the gamers and ONLY changing what the gamers want changed. I thought about getting a 360 when I moved out and into my own place, but considering the stack of console games I never finished and hardly ever play … I’ll stick to computer gaming. GH3 will still be released for PS2 so I’m safe for another season.
Still playing WoW, CoH/CoV, and beta testing Tabula Rasa. Not as hardcore WoW as I have been, but enjoying it none the less. TR is interesting and worth the free beta, but there isn’t enough challenge or replay value to make me pay for it. Who knows what’ll happen during beta though.
